Create your own website
The first website was created November 2007 and with Notpad as the base. It was made to learn the HTML language and codes, and to keep costs down. The background is made in Powerpoint used as a background image. For image archive I use a free service from Jalbum. Menu bar is made out of Pop-Up and was free if one had noticed the little advertisements on the page.
The website then got a powerful "facelift" in December 2010, where Notpad was rejected in favor of its own software for creating and designing your own website. The choice fell on WebSite X5 Evolution v.8 which cost me 90 dollars, but simplified to maintain the website.
Weather station
The weather station in Tranby - Grindene is a Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus with UV and solar sensors. I have also acquired with a fan that runs 24 hours a day, at least in summer. The fan is powered by both battery and solar cells, but in winter it is only mid-day sun that the fan has enough power to operate normally.
In addition, I also bought extra temp / humidity sensor. This is located in a northwest direction and works well in winter, but showed to high temperatures in summer in the late afternoon/evening. Check the link below, so you can see the comparison of measures with and without a fan.
Link: Comparison temp/hum sensor with and without a ventilation fan.
The conclusion is clear: 24 hour fan is incredibly good, so do not save on the money there if you will buy Davis weather station.
The weather station in Haugerudbråtan is a common Davis Vantage Pro2, but also with the 24t fan.

Software weather station for publishing on the internet
For the transmission of weather data to the home page I use Weatherlink coming from the same manufacturer as the weather station. It requires that you have a computer on, and that it is connected to the internet. I've mostly switched off the PC at night.
In addition, I havw the WeatherlinkIP which is a data logger that allows me to transmit weather data without using a PC. This means that I have updated weather data 24 hours a day even without the PC on. Weatherpages as Awekas and Wunderground is updated a round the clock thanks to WeatherlinkIP.
Webcam
I have two webcams. The oldest purchased November 2007 Axis 207NW is a wireless network camera. It's located indoors. 1.3 megapixel camera has a maximum resolution, and surprisingly good picture quality in terms of price.

The second camera is Netcam XL and is a network camera that requires a wire. Camera can withstand extreme temperatures, but getting to avoid moisture and dew it is placed in a shelter from the same manufacturer. It is 3 megapixel camera and it comes with a good management program for the camera. When I bought the camera in 2008, there was no importer for Europe. It provides some small challenges. It comes among other things not with a cabel for 220 v, so you must buy an adapter.

Snow Gauge
Snow depth has until 2008 been done with a folding rule, and it can be ok when there is little snow. At Tranby almost 400 meters above sea it is no good, so in 2009 I have built a proper snow depht stick to be able to record snow depth up to 3 meters. The record for North Forest in Oslo is over 3 meters, so it's okay to have some length on it. And if you go back no longer than 1994 there was a snow depth of around 2 meters at Tranby.
